Design engineers have to consider various parameters like form-fit-function, product cost, regulatory requirements, standards, supplier capability, serviceability and various downstream requirements during product development process. It is difficult for an organization to keep track of all these requirements. Currently such requirements get scattered across various locations and knowledge centers within the organization and many times the feedback comes later during the product lifecycle leading to expensive and time consuming iterations. Organizations can adopt simple yet effective best practices to reduce these iterations and transition to a design process focused on excellence. This session will demonstrate such best practices and how designers can benefit by adopting these practices early during product development phase. At the end of the session participants will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and gather views from the peers from various industries.
